The alleged incident took place around 10:30 p.m., Monday, June 22, when the Naugatuck Police in New Haven County, responded to Cold Spring Circle for a complaint of a suspicious vehicle, said

When police arrived on the scene, officers were told that an unknown individual attempted to lure an 11-year-old child into his vehicle, police said.

Following the report, police were able to track down and identify the driver involved in the incident, police said.

Police said as a result of investigative efforts it was determined that a female passenger, identified as Amanda Gowrie, 28, of Naugatuck, exited the passenger side of the suspect vehicle in a state of intoxication.

Gowrie began shouting at several of the juveniles in the immediate area, one of which she mistakenly believed to be a family member.

"As a result of her behavior, this caused alarm and concern to the children, however, it has been determined there was no intent to 'abduct' or 'lure' any children into this vehicle," police said.

The driver of the vehicle had no involvement and was simply giving Gowrie a ride home, police added.

Gowrie was charged with creating a public disturbance. She will appear in court at a later date.
